Developing Learning at the Gauge Museum

Following our successful application for HLF funding last year, we are excited to update you on our progress so far. Our Schools programme is in the initial phase of its development, with hands-on museum sessions planned, covering the WSR’s links with Brunel and the GWR, the impact of the railway on local history as well as links to the STEM subjects.

The Gauge Museum

We are also developing a collection of Loans Boxes, to be used in schools for hands-on learning about the railway using a range of real and replica objects.

Families visiting the museum this season will be invited to take part in our brand new family trail; a collection of questions and challenges that encourage visitors both young and old to engage more closely with our collections and find out more about the WSR.

Family Activity Trail and STEM Trail: Forces

For school groups looking for something a bit different, our Museum STEM trails offer the opportunity to explore the museum from different perspective.

This is a very exciting time for the Gauge Museum and our Learning Offer is constantly developing. So keep your eye on our website for all the latest updates.
